Have you heard the old saying, that we form our opinion about someone within the first 10 seconds of meeting them?
Well I definitely think that this is true for myself, both as I meet new people and conversely, when I am thinking about how I am presenting myself to the people I meet.
I think about it so much. I always want to come off as intelligent and respectful to anyone I am meeting for the first time and I think that has a lot to do with me being such a people person.
It's not that I care that everybody likes me, I just want them to get to know me more than that 10 seconds before they decide one way or another.
If I could sit down with and have a beer with as many people as I could I think so many cool things would come of it! First of all, that would make a awesome podcast or Vlog. But secondly, for some reason I really just want to get to know seriously everyone in my life better. Do you know how many cool stories, and passionate people there are that would love nothing more than to just talk about what is going on with them!
Honestly, It is just a great way to live as well. Something crazy begins to happen when you value what everyone else has to offer and bring to the table. I have always loved this quote from Einstein saying, "If you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will go its whole life believing it is stupid."
People are rarely going to fit into the box that you want them to. And if you don't ever begin to talk to them and understand them better, that box will always stay the same size.
This rant also goes back to one of my very first posts about making connections. It cannot be understated how important networking, and building up a list of connections can be. The more people you know that do different things, the better leverage you can have on life, and be able to do the things that you want while also getting the things you need from it.
At the end of the day, I guess my overall point is, just go and meet that person. The one you see sitting at the table that you have wanted to talk to for a while. The coworker in the other department who you pass in getting coffee. DM that account whose content inspires you and fires you up. Make the effort to extend your hand to as many people as possible, and watch the flow of positivity come back your way.
Thanks for reading and keeping up with my blogs!
