Chapter 14: Organic Reach is Down. Talent Appreciation is Up.
This is really,
This is another "buzz" topic that people have been talking about relating to the major players in social media. It also has gotten very annoying, and blown out of proportion, as most things do nowadays.
I am not saying that this is not a real thing. It is true. I acknowledge that your post will now reach less people than it would before in the same conditions. The reason why comes down to a combination of things basically relating to the strings being manipulated behind the curtain of the mega giant social media platforms.
But I am here to tell you that it doesn't actually have any impact on you.
"Ok, but it does kinda matter right? " Nope. 0 impact.
I haven't seen anybody else write or talk about this, including Gary Vee, so get off me saying that I like his content too much! You know who you are!
All jokes aside, the point that I am trying to make to you is that if you are good enough at what you do, and do it regularly, you have nothing to worry about by the Organic Reach Apocalypse.
The thought process behind this is that, people know, recognize, and validate great content now and they always will. The cream rises to the top every single time (got that one from Gary).
On top of having great content, putting it out regularly will absolutely impact how many people see your "stuff". Interestingly enough, putting out more content is favored heavily in the new "algorithm" updates that Facebook and Instagram both have seen, which just reinforces my point.
It truly is like a scene out of The Wizard of Oz.
The guy behind the curtain isn't going to make or break your reach.
People have this awesome ability to search for content on social media, and the cool part is they will always find it. You and me, and everyone reading this scrolls through social media endlessly, and on average 3-4 hours a day. This gives ample time to be found.
Obviously there are things you can do to help this process move along, but thinking that small changes will kill any progress you could make, is the mindset that will kill any progress you could make.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
I hope it was informative and made you laugh too, but ultimately I really just hope that you don't fall into this mindset!
In other news, I have been connecting with some awesome people on social media, from friends, to industry leaders, and have been getting great advice along the way!
It didn't occur to me just how much a new viewpoint from someone you don't talk to often or have never even met can impact how you see something you thought were doing well!
PLEASE reach out to me for any questions, comments, thoughts, or anything that you want to talk about!
